What is your opinion on keeping gender roles from kids?

So we know for example that girls are "supposed" to like pink and princesses while boys are "supposed" to like blue and firetrucks.
What is your opinion on keeping these stereotypical things from them and give them options while growing up. Letting boys wear pink and not telling them that something is "for girls", and the other way around.
Do you think this might be confusing for the kid or do you think this is something that will make them grow up to see the other gender as equals.
Do you believe it even works or that they will get naturally be interested in things that their gender is "supposed" to be interested in?
What are the pros and cons of letting a kid grow up without any gender roles?

Also didn't know where to put this so i just posted in politics because discussion.
