Does your family have any habits that you thought were normal until you became an adult?

My mother always used to do "colours" when doing the laundry. Not "whites" "darks" "colours" or anything, I'm talking "pinks", "blues", "yellows" etc. Thought that was how you did laundry until I was about 16.
