I won't provide the persons name so I won't embarrass them. The amount of Krone they are allowed to spend a week is 700 I think they said. Although they said others spend 300 a week. So let's stuff our clothing full of newspapers and jump into our cardboard boxes. We're going for a ride!
Next time you're at a grocery store, please write down the prices of the food there. If you can, estimate the ratio of food in regards to krone to 100 grams. Here's an example(even if it's a bad one). Frozen whole mackerel costs .54 krone per 100g. I shall provide a basic list and of items to look out for.
Protein. You can cross out organ meat and fish with the heads/guts still attached. So if you come across any sort of meat, fish, and nuts. Please write down the costs.
Vegetables. Any sort of vegetables will work as long as they're cheap. Fresh, dried, or even pickled. I'd include beans in here as well, but I think soybean based products may be too expensive.
Fruit. Frozen or fresh would be best. Fruit jams would work as well I guess.
Dairy. Estimate to around 250ml if you can for liquids. So check out milk, skim milk(what's left over after cream is extracted) cream, yogurt, cheese, and other such products.
Carbs. Any sort of flour, grains, or bread should work.
Herbs/spices. Estimate the herbs per handful. Spices just estimate per container.
If you could provide a detailed list of cheap food, we can then take what we listed and create recipes from them. That way we can help a certain someone. Good luck fellow cheap skates! :3
